AN area of Greenock’s high street remains sealed off today after the attempted murder of a man in the early hours of Saturday.
Police were called to a report of a 21-year-old man found injured in the West Blackhall Street area at around 12:10am on Saturday, September 28.
The young man was taken to hospital and was said to be in a serious condition.
Officers were spotted emptying out bins on West Blackhall Street on Monday in an apparent search for evidence.
Several police vans and cars were seen on the street and the surrounding area and a small segment of the pavement remains taped off.
A number of officers remain stationed in the area while investigations continue.
Some local businesses have been impacted by the incident.
Cafe Balfe posted on social media site Instagram: "Unfortunately [the] cafe will be closed until further notice due to an ongoing police incident outside of the cafe.
"We will update on here as soon as we are allowed to reopen."
Police also launched an appeal for information from the public following the incident on Saturday.
