05/10/2009 – A grateful family had been reunited with a good Samaritan who came to their aid.

Siobhan Barrowman made an appeal in the Tele to find the woman who raised the alarm when her husband, David, took a seizure while looking after their young son in a Greenock park.

Council worker Linda Crighton was stunned when she read the story in Thursday’s paper and contacted our office straight away. Siobhan showed her appreciation with a bouquet of flowers.

Linda, 37, who lives in Port Glasgow, said: “I was very surprised — a bit shocked. I just did what I hope anyone else would have done.”

She was in Lady Alice Park on Sunday morning with her three-year-old daughter, Jessica, when David collapsed with a fit, leaving his four-year-son, Joshua, who has learning difficulties, confused and upset.

Linda said: “He fell and went into some sort of seizure.

He dropped his mobile and I picked it up and it rang. I thought I had called the previous number, but it was Siobhan and I told her he had some sort of fit and called the ambulance.

“I kept an eye on Joshua. He was fine at first but the longer the situation went on he started to get upset.”

Linda was only in the park by chance, killing time before taking her daughter to Sunday school nearby.

She said: “I had an extra 20 minutes to spare, so I took Jessica for a play — I never go to that park.”

Siobhan, of Lothian Road, Greenock, said: “I’m pleased to have met Linda again and give her the flowers. My main concern was the fact her little girl was there. I was worried she might be affected by what she saw.”

Meanwhile, David, who was on the mend but awaiting a scan to find out what caused the fit, said: “I just wanted to thank her. I know she says it’s only what anyone would do, but these days a lot of folk don’t bother.”
