A 53-year-old man who was arrested in connection with an attempted murder in Greenock has been released without charge.
Earlier today (Tuesday) Police Scotland said a man had been arrested, but several hours later officers confirmed he had been released.
Officers were called to West Blackhall Street in the early hours of Saturday morning after a 21-year-old man was found seriously injured.
The young man was taken to hospital and was said to be in a serious condition.
Officers were spotted emptying out bins on West Blackhall Street on Monday in an apparent search for evidence.
Enquiries remain ongoing.
