THE trial of a Port Glasgow carer accused of stealing a patient’s bank card and withdrawing more than £3,000 has been pushed back until next year.

William Lilley, 34, faces five charges concerning incidents alleged to have taken place between March and May 2022.

He is accused of stealing the bank card from a now deceased man at Newark Care Home whilst in the course of his employment.

Lilley is alleged to have forced open a lockfast ATM at a Co-op store Dubbs Road in Port Glasgow between March 28 and April 26, stealing a total of £1,000.

Lilley also faces charges which allege he stole a further £750 from the Co-op ATM and another £700 from the Lloyd’s Pharmacy cashpoint between April 30 and May 2.

He was due to stand trial at Greenock Sheriff Court on Thursday, but the hearing was adjourned due to a delay in obtaining an expert report.

Lilley maintained his plea of not guilty through defence solicitor Aidan Gallagher and is now set to stand trial on February 17 next year.
