A GREENOCK man caught in possession of a class A drug while he was on bail has been jailed.
George Govan, 49, of West Blackhall Street, pleaded guilty to charges of being in possession of cocaine and cannabis in the town's West Stewart Street.
Greenock Sheriff Court heard that on December 8 last year police officers attended West Stewart Street where Mr Govan appeared under the influence
He was apprehended for a search and the officers found 0.4 grams of cocaine and 0.3 grams of cannabis in his jacket.
A not guilty charge to possession of diamorphine was accepted.
Govan, who was represented by solicitor Eddie Sweeney, had fines of £200 for the cocaine possession and £100 for the cannabis exchanged for a 14-day prison sentence by Sheriff Sean Lynch after he was told that Govan is currently in custody in connection with other matters.
