FIVE candidates will be contesting the Inverclyde Council by-election in Gourock next month.
The deadline for nominations in the Inverclyde West (Ward 5) constituency passed at 4pm today (October 7).
Christopher McEleny, who previously served as a ward 5 councillor for 10 years, is contesting the ward for the Alba Party, while Gourock resident and local businessman Robert Kirkpatrick will be the SNP's candidate.
Ian Hellyer has been chosen as the Labour candidate for the by-election, John Burleigh is standing for Reform UK and Ted Runciman has been chosen as the candidate for the Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
The election will take place on November 7 when polls within the ward area will be open from 7am and close at 10pm.
