TRAFFIC restrictions will be put in place in Port Glasgow later this week as resurfacing works continue.

Road users will be diverted as a key section of the A8 is completely closed.

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential resurfacing on the westbound trunk road between the Woodhall and Newark roundabouts between 8pm on Saturday, October 12 and Sunday, October 13.

The whole of the westbound carriageway will be shut, and traffic will be diverted via Glasgow Road to the Newark roundabout.

Amey says there will be no access to the A8 from the Kelburn industrial estate, and traffic should instead use Parklea Road.

Amey, which manages the trunk road network in the south-west of Scotland, says the scheme will benefit vehicles using this route every day by improving the condition of the road and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.

The roads maintenance company says the works are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if the conditions are not favourable.
