A TALENTED Inverclyde woman is bringing inspirational island dishes and tantalising tropical tastes to local people with the launch of her new business.

Former NHS worker Maria Roberts has set up Maria's Caribbean Flavas with help from Business Gateway.

Maria runs hands-on cooking sessions where keen chefs are taught how to prepare authentic Carribbean cuisine using locally-sourced ingredients.

The business, which is thought to be the first of its kind in Inverclyde, is already proving to be a bit hit with local people.

Maria said her new venture is bringing families and friends together to share in the joys of 'culinary exploration in an inclusive and supportive environment'.

Maria said: "My experience with the Business Gateway team has been fantastic.

"Working with my adviser has been a pleasure: her guidance and compassion have been so helpful in getting my feet off the ground, and she has always been available to offer her knowledge and advice.

"The one-to-one support has been invaluable in helping me to get my business up and running on the best footing.

"I would recommend that anyone thinking of setting up a new business reaches out to the team."
