THE BEACON Arts Centre in Greenock has a jam-packed schedule of events for the month of October.

There's something for all the family with a host of exciting shows and events. Here's a rundown of what's on...

ABC – An Intimate Evening With Martin Fry - October 12, 7.30pm

Martin Fry of ABC brings an evening of stripped-back music and conversation to the Beacon Arts Centre. Expect classic songs like "The Look of Love" and stories from his long career.

Treasure Island - October 13, 6.00pm

Join Robbie Stevenson for a 'thrilling', sea-shanty-filled adventure in this Scottish twist on Treasure Island. Filled with live music, treasure, and excitement, this 'fun-packed' show is perfect for families and adventurers aged five and up.

BARBARA DICKSON with Nick Holland - October 14, 7.30pm

Barbara Dickson, accompanied by Nick Holland, will perform with support from Anthony Toner to deliver an 'intimate' acoustic performance.

Goose - October 15, 12pm & 2pm

Goose is a fun, interactive musical for under-fives, based on Laura Wall's books. Join Sophie and Goose on a 45-minute adventure full of muddy puddles and wild goose chases.

Hue And Cry 40th Anniversary Full Band Tour 2024 - October 17, 7.30pm

Hue and Cry will celebrate their 40th anniversary with a full band tour performance. The 'legendary' Scottish duo will take fans on a nostalgic journey through four decades of music and performances.

Looking For Me Friend: The Music of Victoria Wood - October 17, 8pm

Paulus the Cabaret Geek, joined by pianist Michael Roulston, presents an evening celebrating Victoria Wood’s best-loved songs. Blending Victoria's story with his own, Paulus offers a tribute for fans and newcomers alike.

Milkshake! Live on Holiday - October 18, 12:30pm & 3pm

Watch your favourite Milkshake! including Chase and Marshall from Paw Patrol, Dora, and Blue from Blue’s Clues, for a holiday adventure. Milkshake! Live On Holiday is a family show for all ages.

The Forgotten Orchard - October 19, 11am & 2pm

Katy reminisces about her apple-loving Grandad, who grew 24 varieties of apples, inspiring her to continue his orchard's legacy. This production celebrates Scotland's orchard heritage, diversity, and the joy of harvest.

Celine - My Heart Will Go On - October 19, 7:30pm

This show returns for 2024 with an even bigger show after a sold-out tour. Starring Alexandra Darby and a live band, this concert celebrates four decades of Celine Dion's greatest hits.

Ghost Stories by The Paper Cinema - October 21 1pm & 7:30pm

There will be a workshop for this production in the afternoon, followed by the show itself later in the evening.

To Save The Sea - October 22, 7:30pm

This new musical is inspired by the 1995 protest against Shell's plan to dump the Brent Spar oil store in the ocean. It follows a group of activists who occupy the structure, sparking a powerful campaign and political battles.

Magical Mozart By Candlelight - October 23, 7:30pm

This is a fully costumed show that transports audiences to the classical baroque world of Mozart. With stunning settings, lighting, and candles, the European Baroque Ensemble and opera singers perform excerpts from Mozart's most popular operas.

Sharp Instinct: Volume II - October 24, 7pm

Malcolm Lyons returns in this new thriller. Teaming up with hitman Hugh Rafferty, Lyons takes hostages and threatens to execute them one by one while the clock is ticking.

Shaun Ryder - Happy Mondays, and Fridays, and Saturdays, and Sundays - October 25, 7:30pm

Shaun Ryder, frontman of Happy Mondays and Black Grape, hits the road for a spoken word tour. Celebrating the release of his new book, fans can expect stories from the Madchester era and beyond.

Chloe Matharu - October 25, 8pm

The award-winning singer-songwriter and harpist, draws inspiration from her time as a Navigational Officer in the Merchant Navy. Performing solo with her harp in English, Scots, and Welsh, her music offers a fresh take on maritime folk. 

Frankenstein; A Radio Play on Stage - October 29-30, 8pm

Bringing 'chaotic comedy' to the Galoshans Festival with a 1950s radio-style twist, three actors play dozens of characters, performing Mary Shelley's Frankenstein complete with live sound effects and period music.

Twist and Shout - October 31, 7:30pm

An all-star West End cast brings the Swinging Sixties to life in this musical. With 40 iconic hits from The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Cilla Black, and more, the show will transport audiences back to the sights and sounds of the Sixties.

Tommy Smith & Peter Johnstone - October 31, 8pm

Tommy Smith and Peter Johnstone unite two generations of Scottish jazz mastery in a 'world-class performance'. The duo will perform jazz classics by Duke Ellington, Stan Getz, and Chick Corea, along with Smith's original compositions.
