A WEMYSS Bay butcher's success at a major industry awards ceremony has earned the business congratulations at the Scottish Parliament.
Inverclyde MSP Stuart McMillan has lodged a member's motion at Holyrood singling out McCaskie's Butchers for its triumphs at the Craft Butcher Awards, reported in the Tele earlier this year.
The firm, owned by Nigel Ovens, won gold for its home-cured bacon products, bacon cheese bites, smoked bacon, and unsmoked Ayrshire bacon.
It also took home silver prizes for several other products, including its bacon and black pudding meatballs.
Arguably topping all of those achievements was the business's success in retaining the National Black Pudding Championship title, its fourth win in the category.
Mr McMillan's motion also asks that the Parliament "recognises McCaskie’s commitment to quality and innovation in butchery, and wishes the business continued success in future competitions and endeavours".
