OCTOBER 20, 2007: A Port Glasgow actor looked set to hit the big time when his new TV series was shown in America.

Ross McCall, originally from Devol, had starred in the pilot programme for a series called The Man.

World-famous rapper and actor LL Cool J played the main character and The Man looked sure to be made into a hit television show.

Ross lived in Hollywood with his then girlfriend, A-list actress Jennifer Love Hewitt.

His parents lived on the Esplanade in Greenock and Ross was said to be in close contact with his Inverclyde family.

Hollywood bible, the IMdB website, reported: “A second pilot will be shot and is expected to go to series.”

The storyline of the show was said to be about an undercover LAPD cop who struggles to find a balance between his professional life, running sting operations, and his family life raising three adopted children.

Ross had been living in the Hollywood hills for around a year-and-a-half and regularly attended red carpet events with Jennifer Love Hewitt.

He became well known in Tinseltown for his role in Tom Hanks’s series Band of Brothers. He also made a horror movie in Louisiana called Autopsy.

Jennifer’s career had taken off since her series Ghost Whisperer, about a woman who can see and communicate with the dead, was syndicated to international television channels.

Rapper LL Cool J, who played the undercover cop in The Man, had gone on to star in movies with Kevin Spacey, Colin Farrell, Samuel L Jackson and Queen Latifah.
