Detectives in Greenock are renewing an appeal for information following an attempted murder in the town last month.
The incident happened in West Blackhall Street at around 12.10am on Saturday, September 28, when officers were called to a report of a 21-year-old man with serious injuries.
He was taken to hospital for treatment.
The Telegraph previously reported that a 53-year-old man had been arrested in connection with the incident, but was later released without charge.
Part of the street was closed off until late on September 30 while investigations continued.
Detective Inspector Nicky Beattie said: “Our enquiries into this incident are ongoing and I would reassure the local community that extensive efforts are ongoing to identify whoever is responsible.
“I would urge anyone who may have information which has not yet been passed to police to get in touch as soon as you can.
“Anyone who can help us asked to call 101, quoting reference 0025 of September 28, 2024.
"You can also call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
