A DAY-LONG ‘world within a world’ is coming to Inverclyde this weekend as part of the Galoshans Festival.

‘Strange Loop’, by artist and theatre makers Jamie Wardrop and Sita Pieraccini, takes place at the Inverkip Community Hub all day on Sunday, October 20.

The event, part of the ‘Feral Arts Takeover’ at this year’s Galoshans Festival, is described as ‘an immersive and interactive experience – a meditation on the hidden realms found at our feet’.

It will feature two half-hour nature walks, two one-and-a-half hour workshops, and a one hour performance jam – with the organisers saying the final part of the programme is ‘at its best with your participation and collaboration’.

A spokesperson said: “Together we will celebrate life found in our most immediate surroundings.

“Join them on an autumnal walk to gather natural materials around Inverkip with some spooky sights along the way, before returning to explore using digital microscopes at their tech workshop.

“See your discoveries collaged and projected large to a live music soundtrack that will be shared in a unique one-off performance.”

Sita is a performer and artist who works across theatre, live art and music. She is a director and theatre artist specialising in physical theatre and clown, as well as an actor and therapeutic clown with Hearts and Minds charity.

Her work is described as ‘inventive, multidisciplinary and collaborative, with a focus on community, artist as author and embodied practices’.

Jamie is a digital artist and designer who works across theatre, immersive art, music and film and has created live visuals for major festivals and artists such as Simple Minds, Lewis Capaldi and Basement Jaxx.

He is currently undertaking a 10-month residency with Paisley-based Refractive, reflecting on the impacts of the climate crisis on the town.

The walks and workshops take place from 11.30am-1.30pm and 2.30-4.30pm, while the performance jam to end the day runs from 5.30-6.15pm.

The event is free but ticketed and is described as suitable for all those aged eight and upwards, though 8-16 year-olds must be accompanied by an adult.

A combined ticket is available for those who want to take part in all three aspects of ‘Strange Loop’, while a number of tickets will also be available for those who simply want to come along to the ‘performance jam’ at the end of the day.
