A GREENOCK wrestler hopes the backing of a home town crowd will help him secure a major win this week.
Lucha DS will take on Sheikh El Sham at the Maximum Impact show at Greenock Town Hall on October 25.
He will be joined on the night by a host of the UK’s top wrestling talent, with around 20 stars taking to the ring during the event.
Lucha told the Tele: “Sheik El Sham is a guy I’ve never beat.
“I think I’ve wrestled him six or seven times all over the country.
“I’m hoping having the home town crowd behind the home town guy will be the reason I might actually do it this time.
“To come out and get a cheer from a home town crowd is unlike any other one.
“Nowhere else beats it.”
Premier British Wrestling hosts two events at Greenock Town Hall annually, with this week’s event being described as Scottish wrestling’s ‘showpiece event of the year’.
The pinnacle of the show will be a six-man King of Cruisers event featuring some of the country’s best cruiserweights.
Lucha added: “The past year has been leading up to this event. There’s going be giant matches, giant results.
"It’s already sold hundreds of tickets. It’s going to be absolutely packed.
“Because this is such a big showcase, I would encourage people to come along to see it – even if they’re not sure if they like wrestling.
“Come be part of the atmosphere and you’ll probably find you love it.”
The show will also feature Clydebank’s Angel Hayze, who will take on Harley Hudson.
She said: “It’s always a great show here.
“There are always hundreds of people showing up because they know it’s going to be a great show.
"Harley’s just won Gut Check for Impact Wrestling, so she’s imminently going to America.
“It’ll be a cool match and it might be the last time people here get to see her as well.”
Tickets for Maximum Impact are on sale at ringsideworld.co.uk or from the Beacon Arts Centre’s box office.
