THE search is on for the next Inverclyde celebrity as Cardwell Garden Centre launches the hunt for a special guest to take part in their Christmas lights switch-on.
The Cardwell team is aiming kick off the festive period with a bang on Thursday, November 7 when they stage their first lights switch-on ceremony.
And now organisers want to find someone special to do the honours of lighting up the Christmas tree and the colourful decorations in and around the garden centre.
Garden centre staff are now looking for nominations for a young person from Inverclyde to throw the switch on the big day - as well as reasons why the nominee should get the nod.
Cardwell’s retail general manager, Paul Carmichael, says that the youngster chosen will be deserving of recognition for doing something special or enduring adversity.
He said: “We’d like to find a special youngster to be our guest of honour on the big night to switch the Christmas lights on and get the festive party started.
“There must be some young person out there, who deserves recognition for doing something special, or has endured adversity and hardship.”
The event, on the outdoor patio area of the centre, is scheduled for November 7 from 5pm, with the switching-on ceremony happening at 6pm.
The event will also feature the Ardgowan Singers, a face painter and the Salvation Army Band, while Santa and Rudolph will also be there to meet everyone.
