THE team behind the Gourock Garden Party have been given a big financial boost as they begin to plan for the 2025 event.
The long-standing event has secured funding of £2,500 from Inverclyde Council's community grants fund towards the running costs of the annual party.
The organisers, Gourock Community Council, had applied to the fund for £5,352, but with far more submitted in bids to the fund than the £250,000 available, councillors on the committee opted to award slightly less than half of what the group had asked for.
The event, put together by a team of more than 30 volunteers, celebrated its 50th birthday earlier this year in the Walled Garden at Gourock Park and at Gourock Bowling Club, with music, dancing, a barbecue, teas and coffees, stalls, boccia, crazy golf and a bar - and the sun even shone to add an extra sparkle to the day.
