A KIND donation from Aulds is the icing on the cake for Greenock Burns Club as it gears up for its annual coffee morning.
President Isabel Lind was delighted to accept an exquisite sponge cake from the bakery chain which will be raffled at the club's coffee morning on Saturday.
The cake handover is a long-running annual tradition between the Mother Club and Aulds.
Mrs Lind said: "It's been a lovely tradition for 40 years.
"Each president chooses their own cake.
"As we are working closely with the Irvine Burns Club with the John Galt Way, I was inspired by A Rosebud By My Early Walk which was composed by David Sillar who was a good friend of Robert Burns and also included the verse in a poem dedicated to his friend: 'The heart aye's the part aye, that makes us right or wrang'.
"I am absolutely thrilled with the cake and the rosebud just makes it!"
Craig Anderson, finance director with Aulds, said: "We are always happy to support the Greenock Burns Club and all the fundraising it does and its great work with the schools."
Funds raised from Saturday's coffee morning will be used to pay for the Inverclyde schools' Burns Supper, which is unique to the district.
The coffee morning will be held at the saloon in Greenock Town Hall on October 26 between 10am and noon.
