INVERCLYDE’S scouts turned the camera on Tele photographer George Munro when he visited gang show rehearsals for their annual cast picture.

Organisers of this year’s Greenock & District Scouts gang show planned a special surprise for the Greenock Telegraph snapper, who has been helping to promote the annual spectacle for over 30 years.

When George arrived at the Pirie Hall in Greenock to take some rehearsal pictures last Sunday, he was presented with a commissioner’s commendation certificate and badge by district commissioner Martin Buchan.

The scout chief said that George was a ‘great friend’ to everything that local scouts do in Inverclyde.

Kenny said: “George has been brilliant supporter of the show for over 30 years and has gone way beyond his remit to help promote all our events.

“He is always gracious with his time and talents and we see him as very much one of the gang.

“We thank him so much for his fun, support and hard work.”

George told the Telegraph he was delighted to be recognised by the scouts.

“I was very surprised to be presented with this award when I turned up to take this year’s picture, but I’m honoured to have received this recognition.

“I’m sure this year’s show will be another huge success.”

The Greenock & District Scouts Gang Show is one of the country’s longest running gang shows and George’s cast photos will appear in this year’s programme.

The show takes places in the Beacon Arts Centre from November 12 to 16 with a cast of over 130 performers from the local scout district.

Tickets are now on sale at the Beacon or from cast members.
