LIFE expectancy in Inverclyde remains among the lowest in Scotland with local men living on average to only 75.5 years old.
The latest figures released by National of Records of Scotland reveals that from birth males are expected to live a year less that the Scottish average from the years 2021 to 2023.
Among females life expectancy from birth in Inverclyde is 79.6 which again is more than a year less than the the national average.
The figures show that in the last decade life expectancy for men in Inverclyde has stayed the same while the age has fallen for women by almost a year.
Inverclyde has among the highest levels of deprivation in Scotland which has a direct result on life expectancy.
For those living in East Renfrewshire, one of the most affluent areas in the country, men will live almost six years longer and females live nearly five years longer.
Life expectancy in Scotland was 80.9 years for females and 76.9 years for males in 2021-2023 while in Greater Glasgow and Clyde it was 80 and 75.5 respectively.
