Befriending Brew Buddies welcomed younger pals to their fortnightly get-together with a fun Halloween theme.

There was a party atmosphere at 71/2 John Wood Street when pupils from St John's Primary came along for a visit.

Karen Wilkie, befriending co-ordinator with Trust Befriending, said: "A teacher from St John's Primary contact us as part of an intergenerational project.

"So we invited pupils along with a Halloween theme. They had made spooky word searches, had candy and games and colouring in, they did fantastically well and we hope to display their work on social media.

"All our participants had a lovely time spending time with the children."

Karen said that Trust Befriending has been running for 27 years and provide one-to-one befriending and Brew Buddies emerged from Covid when people felt socially isolated."

Her colleague Alison Keir, befriending support worker, facilitates the group but it is very much led by the group themselves.

Karen said: "The group is open to everybody in the community ans we've built up a good wee group, the have summer days out, lunches and have booked to go to the Beacon this Christmas.

"They are a very friendly group and anyone will be made welcome, even if they want to meet us first before they come along."

The group meets every and Tuesday between 2 and 4pm.
