A GREENOCK man has been jailed for a shocking campaign of harassment against a woman – after a judge slammed him for having “no regard” for a court’s instructions.
Sheriff Thomas Ward revealed that Ian Lamond already had several convictions for ‘ignoring’ bail orders.
The 33-year-old appeared before Greenock Sheriff Court for breaching the terms of a non-harassment order (NHO).
The court heard that Lamond had been put on the NHO on March 17, 2023, when he was ordered not to approach or contact the woman or to attempt to do so.
But in direct contravention of the order, Lamond made several phone calls to the woman in September of last year.
And when police managed to get in touch with Lamond, he refused to tell them where he was.

In addition to his jail sentence, Lamond has now been ordered to stay away from the woman, and not to approach or contact her in any form, until October 2026.
The court heard that the woman received multiple phone calls with no caller ID at around 4.50pm.
She answered the first call and heard Lamond say: “Can you hear me?”
The procurator fiscal depute added: “The accused then made a number of other phone calls and left messages.
“She reported this to the police.
“The police made attempts to trace the accused but were not able to.
“They were able to speak with the accused on the phone, however, he wouldn’t tell the police his whereabouts.”
Defence solicitor Derek Buchanan said Lamond made the calls as he had belongings he was hoping to retrieve.
Mr Buchanan told the court: “He fully accepts that he went about that in entirely the wrong fashion.”
Sheriff Thomas Ward noted that Lamond already has several previous convictions for ‘ignoring’ bail orders.
He said: “Your record makes it clear that you have got no regard for bail conditions.
“You’re now in front of the court for a breach of a non-harassment order.
“That didn’t make a difference to you either.”
Lamond, of John Wilson Street, was jailed for 108 days, with Sheriff Ward also ordering him to stay away from the woman for another two years.
