TWO people have been hospitalised after a crash in Greenock's west end which left a car on its roof.
Part of South Street was closed off by police following the crash, which is believed to have involved multiple vehicles.
The incident occurred just after noon on Tuesday and saw a significant number of police, fire and ambulance staff dispatched.
The road is currently shut between its junction with Campbell Street and its junction with Robertson Street.
An eyewitness told the Tele: “When I got here I could see two cars, one sitting at the side of a tree and another on its roof.
“There was an ambulance guy getting a stretcher, but I couldn’t see anyone in the cars.
“I just hoped everyone involved is ok.”
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 11:48am today to attend a road traffic collision on South Street, Greenock.
"We dispatched two ambulances, a critical care paramedic and our special operations team to the scene.
"We transported two patients to Inverclyde Royal Hospital.”
