ONE person has been rushed to hospital after a head-on crash on a busy Greenock road.
Police Scotland confirmed they were called to the scene of the two vehicle crash, involving a van and a red hatchback car, on Lyle Road, near the junction with Merlin Avenue, during the Tuesday evening rush hour.
An ambulance crew also attended. The road eventuall opened later that evening.
An eye witness at the scene said: “It looked like a nasty head on collision.
“The ambulance was on the scene and took the injured person to hospital.”
Officers who attended closed the road following the accident involving the car and a flat bed van.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 5.15pm to a report of a two-vehicle crash on Lyle Road in Greenock.
“Emergency services attended and one person has been taken to hospital.
“The road is closed and road users are advised to avoid the area.”
