POLICE Scotland has confirmed a 23-year-old woman suffered serious injuries and a 33-year-old man is also in hospital following a head-on collision in Greenock.
The Tele reported on Tuesday evening that a flat bed van and a red hatchback car were involved in the accident during rush hour in Lyle Road, near Merlin Avenue.
In an update, the police force said enquiries were on going following the incident.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 5.15pm on Tuesday, October 29 to a report of a two-vehicle crash on Lyle Road in Greenock.
“Emergency services attended and a 23-year-old woman was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment to serious injuries.
"A 33-year-old man was also taken to Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley."
