A MAN is to stand trial after he denied assaulting a woman and holding a duvet cover over her mouth at a Wemyss Bay caravan park.

Scott McMillan, 42, is charged with attacking the alleged victim at Kelly Meadows at the Wemyss Bay Holiday Park on Sunday, October 6.

He is accused of pushing the woman on the body and repeatedly slapping her on the face before forcing the cover over her.

McMillan, of Shotts in North Lanarkshire, is further alleged to have grabbed a mobile phone from the woman's hand and to have raised a piece of wood above his head in a threatening manner.

Defence solicitor Amy Spencer told a brief hearing at Greenock Sheriff Court that her client was pleading not guilty to the two charges against him.

McMillan is now due to return to court to stand trial on Monday, January 27.
