NOVEMBER 10, 2011: Christmas came early at a Greenock church as Santa roared into town on a Harley Davidson.
Santa was the special guest at the Wellpark Mid Kirk Christmas Fayre and he arrived in style.
Church member Colin McDade was happy to give Father Christmas a lift on his Harley Davidson Sportster.
And the youngsters who visited the church fayre and Santa’s grotto weren’t disappointed.
Minister Alan Sorenson said: “Because Santa is on a tight schedule at this time of year, he swapped reindeer power for the horsepower of a motorbike as he dashed into the church to meet the boys and girls.”
There was a long queue of kids waiting patiently to tell Santa what they would like for Christmas — and each youngster received an early present.
Pupils from Overton Primary School and Wemyss Bay Primary School choirs sang to entertain the crowds.
Santa’s helpers made sure every child got to see him to pass on their Christmas wishes.
Festive stalls, homemade pancakes, hot dogs, gifts and even a firework cake — specially made to mark 5 November — were enjoyed by visitors on the day.
Organiser Pearl Young and members of the church had been planning the event for a year and made sure everyone enjoyed the day.
The church had been celebrating its 250th anniversary all year and this Christmas Fayre was another spectacular event to mark the occasion.
The church was also installing new boilers and members are aiming to raise £30,000 to repair the heating system.
Funds from the Christmas Fayre went towards the cost of the work.
