PLANS for a new children’s play area near a Greenock primary school have been lodged with Inverclyde Council.
Wicksteed Playgrounds, of Kettering in Northamptonshire, is seeking permission to build the new facility for the council on a disused former car park next to Aileymill Primary on Cumberland Road.
The proposals include eight different play features, among them swings, a roundabout, a ‘buddy board’ and ‘surf rider’, as well as two ‘multiplay’ structures which would each include slides and climbing frames.

One of the multiplay structures, with the theme ‘Mystical World: Legendary Empire’, is, according to Wicksteed, “designed to fuel the imaginations of children, enabling them to create fantasy lands while they are playing and exploring”.
Planning documents add: “The Legendary Empire offers 15 play opportunities, with a two-level platform system catering for children with a vast range of abilities.”
The plans can be viewed online at planning.inverclyde.gov.uk by searching for the reference code 24/0232/IC.
