A POPULAR drama series which has seen scenes filmed in Inverclyde is set to return to the screens tonight.
Scenes for the BBC’s hit show Shetland were shot in Greenock earlier this year after the series, based on the novels of Ann Cleeves, was commissioned for a ninth and tenth season.
And season nine is set to air on BBC One tonight, Wednesday November 6, at 9pm, with the opening episode also available to view on BBC iPlayer.
Actresses Ashley Jensen and Alison O’Donnell are set to return in their roles as DI Ruth Calder and DS Alison ‘Tosh’ McIntosh.
The pair were spotted in character at the Tontine Hotel in March, with film crews also shooting scenes at Loch Thom in April.
Shetland adds to the long list of TV series and movies which have been at least partly filmed in Inverclyde over the years, with others including Float, Waterloo Road and the Scottish-produced 'Christmas zombie musical', Anna and the Apocalypse.
