CLYDEPORT dock workers in Greenock have secured an overall pay package worth around 9.3 per cent.
Trade union Unite have confirmed that around 100 workers based at the King George V dock in Glasgow and at the Port of Greenock overwhelmingly backed a wage offer from Peel Port
The deal covers crane and terminal operators, pilots who move vessels around the Clyde, engineers and vessel deck hands.
The accepted offer amounts to a three per cent basic pay rise, two days extra holiday and bonuses worth up to £1,000 if absence and profit targets are reached, along with a 50 pence an hour rise for crane operators.
Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “Unite has successfully negotiated a good pay package for our Clydeport members on the Clyde.
“It’s another important win and demonstrates how Unite is delivering better jobs, pay and conditions for dock workers across Scotland.”
Clydeport cranes and workshops are owned by the Peel Port Group.
The workers handle and move containers, forest products, agribulk, project and bulk cargo from vessels on to land for onward distribution to destination markets across Scotland.
Pat McIlvogue, Unite industrial officer, said: “Clydeport workers will benefit from a deal which will deliver better pay, bonuses and holiday entitlement.
“It’s a welcome recognition for the skilled work of dock workers on the Clyde.”
