A PORT Glasgow man has admitted trying to extinguish a cigarette on a man’s face after illegally drawing a train to a halt in Greenock.
Billy Drummond committed the offences at Greenock Central train station on March 1, 2023 – when he was aged 18.
The now 20-year-old was due to stand trial at Greenock Sheriff Court, but he instead pleaded guilty to two charges.
Drummond attacked a man at the station, seizing him by his clothing and attempting to remove him from a train.
He then attempted to stub out the lit cigarette on his face before punching him on the body.
Drummond also admitted a separate charge of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by repeatedly shouting, swearing and uttering threats of violence.
He pulled an emergency egress handle on the train, preventing it from leaving the station, as well as challenging railway staff to a fight.
Drummond also placed his foot in the doorway of a carriage to stop its doors from closing.
He faced a further charge of assaulting a second man on the same date at Greenock Central, but his plea of not guilty was accepted by prosecutors.
Sheriff Sean Lynch deferred his sentencing until a social work report is prepared.
Drummond, of Southfield Avenue, will return to court on December 11.
