HEALTH bosses have put a 'temporary fix' in place after a major IT problem affected NHS service across Inverclyde.
The health board reported an IT problem which was affecting all systems, including phones, across the area.
The Tele had been told that people attending Inverclyde Royal Hospital and local GP surgeries were being asked not to stay unless they were in urgent need.
Inverclyde Council initially said that the health board was "aware and working to resolve the matter as soon as possible".
The council then issued an update on social media stating that a temporary fix had been put in place and saying there "should be no impact to the public".
A spokesperson for the health board said: "We can confirm that there was an external BT network issue affecting some health services in Inverclyde.
"A temporary fix has been implemented by BT, and our contingency plan is in place while BT works to fully resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
"All IT services have been restored at Inverclyde Royal Infirmary, and any health centres, and GP practices that were affected.
"There is no impact on the public or patients, including access to phone lines."
