A GREENOCK organisation has been recognised at the Scottish Parliament after celebrating its 10th anniversary.

West Scotland MSP Ross Greer’s motion called on Holyrood to congratulate Belville Community Garden Trust on reaching the milestone.

The garden was established by residents in 2014 and has since become a major food growing hub and community space.

The project marked the anniversary by hosting a Halloween pumpkin patch last week.

In his motion, Mr Greer, who paid a visit to the garden when the Scottish Green Party came to Greenock last month for its autumn conference noted that the garden played a ‘critical role’ during the Covid-19 pandemic by providing food boxes to those in isolation.

He also wished all at Belville Community Garden the best for the future.

Mr Greer's motion has been signed by nine of his fellow MSPs from the Labour, Green, Conservative and SNP ranks.
