A GREENOCK householder faces the prospect of having to tear down an outbuilding in the back garden of their home.
Inverclyde Council officials have refused an application from Catherine Curran for retrospective planning permission for the shed in the back garden of a property in Gateside Grove.
The outbuilding is situated on top of decking in the back garden, next to another shed.
A report by a member of the council's planning department, outlining the reasons for refusal, states that the outbuilding has a ‘detrimental impact on the adjoining property as a result of its size and proximity to the common boundary between the properties’.
It also says that that while the outbuilding's appearance is "generally expected for a location such as this", the shed’s size and its proximity to the property's boundary has a negative impact on the residential amenity of the neighbouring home.
