AN alleged dangerous driver is to stand trial at Greenock Sheriff Court next week charged with narrowly avoiding a crash with a lorry.
Anton Coia, 51, is alleged to have failed to stop his car for uniform police officers at various locations in the town, as well as on the Erskine Bridge, on September 30, 2023.
Prosecutors claim that Coia drove the vehicle dangerously on East Hamilton Street, the A8 and at the Langbank roundabout.
He is accused of failing to observe lane markings, driving at excessive speeds, swerving on the road and narrowly avoiding a collision with an articulated HGV.
Coia, of Glasgow, faces a further charge of driving a car for which no test certificate had been issued within the appropriate period before the date of the alleged offences.
He maintained his pleas of not guilty before Sheriff Lorna Anderson on Tuesday, ahead of a trial on November 18.
