A MAN is to stand trial next month charged with subjecting a woman to a nine-month campaign of abuse in Greenock and elsewhere.

Michael Muir denies engaging in an abusive course of behaviour towards his former partner between March 2023 and December 2023.

During this time, the 37-year-old is alleged to have followed the woman in and contacted her by telephone and text against her wishes.

Prosecutors say he also loitered outside both her home and her mother’s, as well as pressuring her to reconcile with him.

The charge against Muir, of Ivy Gardens in Paisley, further alleges that made disparaging remarks towards the complainer about a hobby of hers and caused her to stop attending this activity.

The Crown claims that incidents took place at multiple addresses in Greenock, as well as at a concert venue and hotel in Glasgow, and a hotel in London.

He maintained his plea of not guilty at Greenock Sheriff Court on Tuesday, with a trial due to take place on December 9.
