A PORT Glasgow woman has been charged with wasting police time by falsely claiming a benefit had been stolen from her.
Stephanie Bryan, 34, is alleged to have falsely represented to two police officers by reporting that an amount of £159.31 had been taken from her between March 9 and 11 this year.
Prosecutors say she caused police officers maintained at the public expense for the public benefit to devote their time and services to the investigation of a claim which she knew to be inaccurate.
The charge also noted that officers detained and arrested a woman in relation to the alleged incident.
The case against Bryan, of Southfield Avenue, was continued without plea at Greenock Sheriff Court and will call again on November 22.
