ARGOS has recruited new members of staff for its temporary store which opens this week - and more jobs could follow.

The Tele previously reported that the major UK retailer is set to reopen a large store in the Oak Mall next summer once the town centre redevelopment is underway.

A temporary click and collect style store is now open again in the shopping centre, following the closure of the original store near the Clyde Square entrance.

A source said: "Argos has retained some colleagues from the previous store and have since recruited a few more – together they will operate the temporary Click and Collect store and then they will transfer to the permanent one when it opens."

The Tele understands that one the new permanent store opens in the remaining part of the Oak Mall, there may be further recruitment.

We reported in September that Argos staff were uncertain about their future with no plans at that time to open up a new store.
