A GOUROCK church spread some festive cheer and raised an amazing £2,400 for church funds.

Old Gourock and Ashton Church brought the community together with their Christmas fete.

More than 100 people flocked to the event to have a browse around the many stalls.(Image: alex craig) (Image: ALEX CRAIG) (Image: alex craig) (Image: alex craig) Donald Crawford, elder at the church, said: "It was absolutely fantastic, we had 40 or 50 people working at all the different stalls.

"There must have been well over a hundred people who come along.

"All the stalls were run by the various groups within the church.

"There was a fairly good variety - the craft group, the dementia cafe group, the Brownies, Guides and Boys Brigade. The tearoom never stopped!"

He said: "We want to thank the folk of Gourock, it was a tremendous amount to raise for church funds.

"Everyone who came along really enjoyed it. People said it was usually busier than usual.

"It really brought the community together, Old Gourock is a real community church and every pitches in.

"We had amazing donations for the hampers which we raffled.

"We had 50 hampers and raised £700 from that alone.

"We also saw some new faces which was great. We are always happy to welcome new people to our church."
