AN INVERCLYDE MSP visited a care home in Greenock as part of UK Parliament Week.

Stuart McMillan, of the SNP, visited HC-One Scotland's Merino Court Care Home on Friday, November 22.

The visit was part of UK Parliament Week from November 18 to 24, which aims to educate people about the roles of Parliament and local dignitaries, as well as how individuals can get involved and make an impact on the issues they care about.

The care home residents and staff enjoyed meeting Mr McMillan and discussing life at Merino Court Care Home.

He was given a tour of the 60-bed nursing and dementia care home, including the hair salon, hobby room, dining room, lounge, premier bedrooms, and gardens.

He said: "It was a pleasure to attend Merino Court’s coffee morning today.

"Care homes play a hugely important role in society, offering a comfortable and safe place for those who need round the clock care, which is also a relief to residents’ friends and family.

"I’m delighted there has been reinvestment in the building to make it more comfortable for residents, and residents enjoy living there.

"Our community is well served with facilities catering for our older citizens, and Merino Court is always welcoming."

The care home also organised a range of activities for UK Parliament Week, including online Q&A sessions, quizzes, debates, and debates.

Bernadette McGeown, deputy home manager at HC-One Scotland’s Merino Court Care Home, said: "We were delighted to welcome MSP Stuart McMillan to our home during UK Parliament Week.

"Everyone had a great time, chatting and discussing key issues they care about and what actions can be taken to overcome them."
