A TALENTED musician from Port Glasgow has won a Young Citizen of the Year award.
Former St Stephen's High School pupil Cody Macdonald has been honoured with the Dr Sadhu Gupta award by the Gourock Rotary Club.
The young flautist is the first from his school to study Bachelor of Music degree at the Royal Conservatoire.
He was named as the winner for his commitment to music and continuing to support youngsters in Inverclyde.
Nominating him for award, a former teacher said that even since leaving school he has assisted with the Inverclyde Schools’ Junior Wind Orchestra and Training Band, working with younger children and teenagers, showcasing his talent and resilience, providing an example for them to strive towards their goals.
A former teacher told the judging panel he was an amazing ambassador for Inverclyde.
The runners up for the Dr Sadhu Gupta award was former Clydeview Academy pupil Ben Kane, who campaigns for grief counselling for young people, and The Clydeview Academy social justice group.
They have raised money and awareness of the charity Children in Poverty Inverclyde.
Musician Cody was presented with his award at a special ceremony in the Beacon Arts Centre.
Gourock Rotary Club thanked the Inverclyde Windfarm Fund for a supporting grant.
On the night they also announced the winners of the young musician, artist, and photography.
