A HOUSING association has been recognised for its efforts to combat homelessness in Inverclyde, as well as its commitment to reducing carbon emissions.
River Clyde Homes (RCH) recently scooped the Working In Partnership and Net Zero prizes at the Chartered Institute of Housing’s (CIH) Scotland Housing Awards.
The annual event was hosted at the Double Tree by Hilton in Glasgow earlier this month.
The awards aim to celebrate the dedication, innovation and passion of those who work tirelessly to improve the lives of tenants, customers and communities.
RCH was honoured for its work with Inverclyde Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) to improve outcomes for homeless people in the area.
The association received the Net Zero in Housing award for its Prospecthill Court Retrofit project, which saw the block of flats insulated in a bid to reduce carbon emissions and mitigate fuel poverty.
This involved the development of an external rain-screen cladding system and installation of triple-glazed windows to improve the thermal efficiency of the building.
The works were designed to reduce annual energy demand per flat by more than 80 per cent.
Stevie McLachlan, director of customer experience at RCH, said: “We're delighted to be recognised for our partnership working with Inverclyde HSCP to combat homelessness in our community.
“Both of the awards are testament to the commitment, hard work and dedication of everyone involved in providing support and solutions to those most in need.

“To be part of such a passionate and dedicated team is a real privilege, and together we can look forward to continuing to make a positive impact on the lives of local people.
“We're proud to be part of this collaborative effort and committed to continuing our work to improve the lives of Inverclyde residents.”
Councillor Robert Moran, chair of Inverclyde Integrated Joint Board, added: “This award shows what can be achieved by strong partnership working.
"I know our homelessness service has worked hard over the last few years to tackle the issue of homelessness in Inverclyde and this award is testament to that.
“It was a tough category with 24 projects shortlisted so it’s great news that the award has come to Inverclyde HSCP and River Clyde Homes.
“Congratulations to everyone involved with the partnership for winning this award.
"I am sure this partnership will continue to deliver positive results in Inverclyde.”
