Snap-happy brothers claim they captured a 'crocodile' on camera at Murdieston Dam in Greenock.
The pair sent in some colourful (but blurry) photos of the elusive reptile, which they claimed was hiding in the reeds at the Thom Street pond side of the dam.
Their normal habitat is usually in countries a lot hotter than Scotland, such as Africa, Southeast Asia, the East Indies, Mexico, parts of America and Australia and the West Indies.
Scott and Martin Cowan sent in the unusual pictures.
Scott said: "The croc has been there for ages, I've seen it twice, I saw it eating a duck with its jaws, it took it under.
"You can see from the pictures where it has flattened down the grass. Look at the tail and then follow the body. It's camouflage."
Despite the supposed sighting by the brothers there have been no further reports and animal rescue charities have not been contacted. No zoo has reported a missing crocodile either.
But what do readers say - can anyone solve the mystery of the 'creature' in the dam?
