FUNDING has been secured by Police Scotland Renfrewshire and Inverclyde in the hope of offering extra support to survivors of domestic and sexual abuse.
In collaboration with Inverclyde Women’s Aid - The Renfrewshire and Inverclyde Public Protection Unit has been seeking opportunities to support survivors of domestic and sexual abuse through the investigative process that commences after reporting incidents of abuse.
This has led to funding being secured that has provided the opportunity to renovate a room within the Inverclyde Women’s Aid building, located on George Square in Greenock.
It is hoped that the room can be a place where statements can be taken by police in a supportive and safe environment, whilst giving people the opportunity to utilise the services of Women’s Aid at the same time
And police bosses reiterated their commitment to improving services for victims of gender based violence.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police Scotland are committed to improving our services for victims of gender based violence and we encourage anyone who has been a victim of domestic or sexual abuse to report it to Police Scotland or through one of our partner agencies. We will take action and we will investigate.”
