A TEENAGER has been arrested in connection with alleged threatening communications which are understood to have related to staff and pupils at a Gourock school.
St Columba’s High School wrote to parents on Thursday night to advise them that the school had been informed of ‘an allegation suggesting a threat towards pupils and teachers on Friday, November 29’.
They said that ‘swift and appropriate action’ had been taken, which included contacting Inverclyde Council and referring the matter to the police.

Police Scotland confirmed to the Telegraph that they had received a report of 'threatening communications' at around 3.40pm on November 28.
Chief Inspector David Doherty, area commander for Inverclyde, said the force had launched an investigation to establish the full circumstances of the incident.
He also confirmed that officers had arrested a young teenager in connection with the incident.
The school letter sent out on Thursday evening states: “Earlier today, Thursday, November 28 we were informed of an allegation suggesting a threat towards pupils and teachers on Friday, November 29.
“Swift and appropriate action was taken, including contacting Inverclyde Council and referring the matter to police who are now investigating.
“We cannot go into any more detail due to the live police investigation.
“However, we are satisfied that the matter has been dealt with thoroughly and that all appropriate action is being taken.
“We therefore look forward to welcoming all staff and pupils to our school community tomorrow, Friday, November 29 as normal."
It added: “Please be assured that the health and safety of everyone in our school is paramount and we continue to prioritise this above all other school matters."
