A MUSICIAN who released a fundraising album about growing up in Gibshill is using the proceeds to help keep people warm this winter.
Community activist Brian Heron's 'Back Tae Ma Roots' has been a huge hit and almost completely sold out locally.
The singer and songwriter put the collection of songs together with proceeds going to his jamming session in Gibshill Community Centre.
Brian said: "It is so important to keep the session running, everyone enjoys coming on a Monday. A few of us come and play, but others come along just to listen.
"It is a great atmosphere. I put all my songs together with help from the musicians who come along, we go back a long way.
"I have had a great reaction so far to the album, people are really enjoying it."
The jamming session was originally part of the Warm Hand of Friendship funding, which is an initiative to support voluntary and community organisations in creating a network of warm spaces, activities, and support during winter.
To hear some of the songs from the album or to enjoy great music and company, the public is welcome to attend the Gibshill Community Centre jamming session on Mondays from 11.30am to 1.30pm.
