TWO Inverclyde councillors have called on council colleagues to note the ‘efforts and dedication’ of a local Gaza fundraising group.
Councillor Pam Armstrong, of the SNP, is set to table a motion at the full council meeting on Thursday, December 5 which will commend the fundraising work of the Group for Gaza.
The group raising funds in a bid to alleviate the suffering endured by the people of Gaza.
The charity group was set up in October 2023 when an armed conflict began between Israel and Hamas-led Palestinian militant groups. The group and has since met weekly on Saturdays for a vigil and fundraiser.
To date the group has sent £8,000 to Medical Aid for Palestine. This includes proceeds from the two Gigs for Gaza held in Inverclyde.
The motion added: "This council commends the efforts and dedication of the Group for Gaza."
The Notice of Motion has been countersigned by SNP colleague Councillor Sandra Reynolds.
