DOES any reader have information about the former Gourock Model Yacht Club?
Originally a single wide photograph, today’s two images show members sailing their craft. The scene possibly goes back more than 100 years.
The images were given to me by Hugh Shields, a member and former commodore of Greenock Model Yacht and Power Boat Club.
Hugh is keen to know where the Gourock club was located.
He believes it closed in 1944 or 1945, with a number of members joining the Greenock club, whose origins date to 1878.
Greenock Model Yacht and Power Boat Club is thought to be the second oldest organisation of its type in the world, with the oldest being one in London established some years earlier.
The Greenock club has around 35 members.
