A MAN has appeared in court to admit shouting homophobic remarks at a police officer.
Grant McKnight repeatedly called the constable ‘gayboy’ when officers went to a flat in Port Glasgow following a 999 call.
At the time of the offence the 20-year-old was subject to an anti-social behaviour order as well as a bail order.
He is also currently carrying out community payback work for a previous conviction.
McKnight admitted shouting, swearing, challenging officers to fight and making homophobic remarks on 7 February.
Depute fiscal Lindy Scaife said: “Officers heard a commotion coming from a flat and inside there were people under the influence of alcohol.
“Two police officers spoke to the householder and the accused approached them and became aggressive.” McKnight’s solicitor Gerry Keenan said: “Drink caused him to become involved in something that was none of his business and which has had significant consequences.” Sentence was deferred for reports.
