SCOTLAND has a long and fascinating history and with that comes plenty of places that people swear are haunted.

These "paranormal hotspots" can be situated anywhere with stately homes, abandoned towns and, of course, old pubs being primary haunts for ghosts and ghouls.

If you're looking for somewhere spooky to enjoy a cold pint this October, you may be interested in visiting Scotland's "most haunted" pub - The Drovers Inn.

Established in 1705, the historic inn is one of Scotland's oldest and has had countless visitors over its 300-year history.

According to Hidden Scotland, a young family in search of a new life met a terrible fate not far from the inn in the late 18th century.

After being caught in a horrible storm, the family took a wrong turn and was found days later, frozen to death.

Many have claimed to see a "ghostly group" wandering along the road outside the pub, always accompanied by a bitter cold.

The story goes that after spending the night here and drinking way too much, Angus woke up with a bad hangover and no cattle.

It would soon transpire that sneaky rivals had plied him with drink and stolen his cattle while he was drunk.

Struggling to move on, he returned to The Drovers Inn where he plotted his revenge. However, the chance to enact justice would never come.

After being spotted by the thieves, Angus was jumped and hanged from a tree beside the pub. Many have claimed to see him wandering around at night, still looking for vengeance.

Despite its scary reputation, the pub is a popular place to visit with many commending its excellent food and fantastic atmosphere.
