MY latest appeals for information about relations come from across the Atlantic.
Robert Coles, who lives in Canada, is trying to make contact with Barbara and George Darroch.
The family connection is that Barbara is his aunt.
Her husband George was been born around 1931. His father, also named George, was possibly a coalman. The Darrochs may have had a Port Glasgow connection.
George and Barbara are believed to have emigrated to New Zealand in the 1970s but are thought to have returned to the Greenock area, although when this happened is not certain.
Robert Coles and his sisters would love to hear from their aunt and uncle, or receive information from anyone who knows of them.
Please contact me if you can help.
Meanwhile Tara Lenahan-Ussailis has been in touch from Massachusetts in the United States with a question about her Greenock forebears.
She is trying to find information about a family member who lived in West Blackhall Street, according to the census of 1881.
Henry Lenahan was one year old when listed in the census but his name does not appear with his family in the 1891 census, neither does that of his father, Thomas, who was born in 1847. It is reasonable to believe both passed away before 1891.
I’d be pleased to hear from any branch of the Lenahan family still living in the area who may be able to assist in this appeal.
